Theme:
Library and Information Science Education in Africa: Opportunities and Challenges
Objectives:
To discuss challenges that LIS education is facing in this region
To encourage exchange of ideas and experience amongst LIS educators from this region
To explore opportunities of collaboration in teaching, research and continuing professional development in this region
Topics:
The LIS Education in Developing Countries (SIG) invites you to submit an abstract in ENGLISH of no more than 300 words in electronic format related to the theme for this session, which would cover any the following topics:
Faculty – teaching – research – mentoring
Student – recruitment – retention
Collaboration – networking – sharing of resources
Continuing professional development
Distance education
Integration of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT)
The proposal must include:
Name(s) of presenter(s)
Institutional affiliation
Mailing address
E-mail address
Title of the paper
Brief biographical statement maximum 100 words
Papers should be in any of the IFLA official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Russian and Spanish. However an English translation will be welcome. Simultaneous translation would be offered during the SIG session.

Important Dates:
Proposal must be received on February 15, 2015
Notification of proposal acceptance/rejection will be sent on March 15, 2011
Deadline for final paper submission, May 31, 2015. The final paper should not be more than 5, 000 words in length.
Deadline for sending an English version of the final paper, if it is in another IFLA language, June 30, 2015.

All expenses, including registration for the conference, travel, accommodation etc., are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA, but a special invitation can be issued to authors.
