Principles for Access to Archives: give your opinion now!
Our sister organisation for Archives, the International Council on Archives (ICA) has developed a draft set of principles for access to archives. These principles are intended to be applicable across linguistic and cultural divides, and in different political regimes.
At the last meeting of the LAMMS Coordinating Council ICA indicated to also very much welcome comments from other colleagues in the cultural heritage field. Many libraries also have archival collections. Many librarians, museum specialists and monument & sites specialists are archive users themselves!
Please have a look at the principles and post your comments to accesss@ica.org before 31 January 2012. It is much appreciated!
The current draft is available in English, French and Portugese.
The aim for ICA is to have the final text of the principles approved by ICAs voting members at the Annual General Meeting in Brisbane in August 2012.
