ANNOUNCING
The 3rd Taiwan-Singapore-Thailand Workshop on Library & Information Research, on 17-18 Jan 2011, in Singapore (http://www.ideapolis.sg/index.php/3rd-tst-cfp)
The first Workshop was organized by the National Taiwan Normal University in Sep. 2008, and the second by Khon Kaen University (Thailand) in Nov. 2009. It is time to visit Singapore in Jan 2011!
The purpose of the Workshop series is to promote collaboration among LIS researchers, educators and professionals in Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand. The specific objectives:
- To initiate and carry out regional collaborative projects
- To establish regional library and information research groups
- To obtain expert feedback on current research studies.
A PhD symposium is included in the Workshop to promote networking among PhD students.
The Workshop is jointly organized by
· Wee Kim Wee School of Communication & Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
· The National Library Board, Singapore.
Co-organisers are:
· Graduate Institute of Library and Information Studies, National Taiwan Normal University
· Information and Communication Division, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University
· Faculty of Informatics, Mahasarakham University.
The 2-day Workshop is free to registered participants and is open to:
· Faculty, researchers and graduate students of LIS schools in Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore
· Librarians in the National Libraries of the three countries.
The Workshop will be held at the National Library, Singapore (in the downtown cultural/historic district), with an afternoon visit to the Wee Kim Wee School. All proposals, abstracts, papers and presentations must be in English. Selected abstracts and papers will be published in an open-access journal.
Participants are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation and living expenses. Reasonably priced accommodations are currently being sought by the organizers.

Mon. 17 Jan
· 9:00am-10:30am: Plenary session
· 11:00am-12:30pm: Presentations
· 12:30pm-1:30pm: Lunch
· 1:30pm-3:00pm: Presentations
· 3:30pm-5:00pm: Break-out sessions for research groups
· 7:00pm-9:30pm: Conference dinner at the National Library, The Pod (observation deck) with performances by students and staff of the Wee Kim Wee School and the National Library, and participants!

Call for Proposals
This Workshop is different from other conferences in that the focus is on regional collaborations: proposals for research collaborations and reports of collaborations.
LIS researchers, educators and professionals in the 3 countries are invited to participate in the Workshop in the following ways:
1. Propose a project for regional research collaboration
2. Report an ongoing or completed regional research collaboration, and hold working group meetings with collaborators
3. Explore and participate in new or existing collaborative projects
4. For graduate students: Present research proposal, or ongoing or completed research project.
Proposing a project for regional collaboration (deadline 30th Nov)
Please submit proposals for research collaborations online at the TST Workshop collaboration site at: (http://www.ideapolis.sg/index.php/3rd-tst-cfp), and create a personal profile.
Deadline for submitting proposals: 30th Nov, 2010.
Authors will be notified of proposal acceptance: 7th Dec, 2010.
Authors may submit multiple proposals.
Proposals on the following five themes are especially encouraged (though other areas are welcome):
1. eLearning/teaching methods in LIS
2. Digital libraries/archives
3. Reading/information literacy
4. Scholarly communication
5. Knowledge management/organization
In the proposal, please specify:
· Title of project:
· Name of author/proposer:
· Institutional affiliation:
· Country:
· Existing collaborators:
· Number of collaborators sought:
· Abstract (max 500 words):
· Project description (1-5 pages, or 500-2,500 words). This should outline how the collaborators are expected to contribute to the project
After the proposals have been accepted and posted on the TST Workshop collaboration site, LIS researchers and professionals will be invited to view the proposals and indicate their interest to collaborate in one or more research projects
Report an ongoing or completed regional research collaboration
Please submit an abstract of an ongoing or completed research collaboration at the TST Workshop online collaboration site (http://www.ideapolis.sg/index.php/3rd-tst-cfp), followed by a short paper (report).
Deadline for submitting abstract: 30th Nov, 2010.
Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance: 7th Dec, 2010.
Deadline for submitting a short report of 3 to 6 pages (upto 3,000 words): 31 Dec, 2010.
Explore and participate in new or existing collaborative projects
Access the TST Workshop online collaboration site (http://www.ideapolis.sg/index.php/3rd-tst-cfp) after 7th Nov. 2010 and view the research proposals. Create a personal profile of yourself on the site and indicate the projects you are interested in.
Deadline for submitting personal profile and indicating projects of interest: 31th Dec., 2010.
PhD Symposium
Graduate students are invited to submit a short paper of 4-6 pages (2,000-3,000) words describing their research proposal, or ongoing or completed research projects. Submit the paper to the TST Workshop online collaboration site at: http://www.ideapolis.sg/index.php/3rd-tst-cfp
