Call for Papers
Emerging Paradigms for Academic Library E-Book Acquisition and Use: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities
June 3, 2008
The Chinese University of Hong Kong
We are delighted to invite you to participate in the above conference. This conference is an initiative of the Electronic Resources Academic Library Link (ERALL) project, and is organized by the City University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. ERALL is a consortium formed by the eight members of the Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC - i.e. the eight Hong Kong university libraries). The consortium purchases E-Books for shared and perpetual access among the eight member libraries.
The purpose of this conference is to give an opportunity to each JULAC Library to share their experiences in acquiring and using E-Books. We also welcome overseas speakers including vendors to address the e-publishing industry and E-Book trends, practicing librarians with E-Book research and experience, and consortium leaders with negotiating and licensing experience. While JULAC members can attend the conference free of charge, non-JULAC members need to pay a registration fee (details to be announced later).
This is the first call for papers. You are invited to submit abstracts on any of the following Topics on E-Books:
Strategic collection development, book selection, or technical issues from cataloguing, acquisition, consortial purchasing, licensing terms, and systems.
Promotion, current awareness, user education and curriculum integration.
