Chicago, Illinois
The American Library Association International Papers Committee invites proposals for papers for the ALA Annual Conference to be held in Chicago, Illinois, June 23-29, 2005.
The International Papers Program is designed to encourage the exchange of ideas about library services and collections among librarians from different parts of the world. The papers are also selected to stimulate the interest of U.S. librarians in international library matters.
The 2005 International Papers Program theme is:
"Shaping Our Future: Library Services for Youth"
Children are our hope for the future. Providing them with adequate education and guidance is essential for their intellectual development. In addition to school education, libraries also play an
important part in this process. In the United States, school libraries, public libraries, and some research libraries, provide services to children. We want to hear about the library services for youth (including children and young adults) in your country: its history, current status, challenges, and any library programs that have improved the intellectual development of children in your country.
